Human Trafficking in the United States: The Truth and What You Can Do About It* Course Length: 30 minutes Who should take this course? General public; anyone who wants to learn more about the prevalence of human trafficking in the United States and what steps they can take to prevent and report human trafficking crimes.  Course description Human Trafficking in the US is among the least understood and least visible crimes in our country. Yet, at least 400,000 people in the US currently live in situations of modern slavery. While Human Trafficking takes many forms, the most common exploitations in the U.S. occur through sex and labor trafficking. Through real life stories and interactive scenarios, Human Trafficking in the United States: The Truth and What You Can Do About It will shed light on the myths and facts of Human Trafficking in the United States.   Keeping Kids Safe in the Digital World Course Length: 60 minutes Who should take this course? Parents, educators, caregivers Course description The problem of online enticement and online sexual exploitation of children is vast and ever-growing due to our increasing reliance and use of the digital world. Enticement and sexual exploitation includes a variety of situations including predators communicating with children online with the intent to commit a sexual offense, youth being groomed online, engaging in sexual conversations with a child or teen online, and receiving child sexual abuse images and videos online. This victimization takes place across every platform including messaging apps, social media, and gaming platforms.   In this course, parents and caregivers will learn practical techniques for empowering themselves and their kids to take action against online exploitation. Keeping Kids Safe in the Digital World consists of 3 modules:   Module 1: Online Exploitation  This module is an introduction to youth internet use and online exploitation and covers key topics like:   What online exploitation is and where it happens  How exploitation can lead to human trafficking  Why youth are especially vulnerable to victimization online  How predators and traffickers identify, coerce, and control victims on the internet  Signs of potential victimization  Module 2: Digital Safeguarding  In this module, you will discover the most important digital safeguarding tools and techniques for protecting kids online. Through interactive scenarios, personal reflection, and engaging videos, you will learn how to use the 3 Ts of Online Safety. Upon completion of this module you'll be empowered and equipped to take action immediately!  Module 3: A True Story  In the final module of the three-part series, you’ll follow an average American teenager as he becomes a victim of online exploitation. These courses are great courses to take after primary training in how to fight human trafficking. Who should take this course? Parents of youth who identify as LGBTQ are encouraged to take this course, but this course also contains many resources that will also appeal to a wide audience that is concerned about the protection of LGBTQ youth in their community.  Course description: The focus of this course is on the human trafficking of LGBTQ youth, a demographic that faces numerous potential avenues for sexual or labor exploitation and coercion. Module topics in this course include the specific vulnerabilities to trafficking faced by LGBTQ youth, how to support your children and protect them from potential trafficking situations, and how to support LGBTQ youth in your community more broadly. By the end of this course, you should be able to: Define "human trafficking" Identify common vulnerabilities to trafficking Understand how LGBTQ youth are particularly vulnerable to being trafficked Establish a safe and stable support system for your child. Course description: The focus of this course is on the human trafficking of LGBTQ youth, a demographic that faces numerous potential avenues for sexual or labor exploitation and coercion. Service providers and law enforcement officers can play a crucial role in creating comfortable environments for at-risk and/or trafficked LGBTQ youth, thus reducing LGBTQ youth vulnerabilities to trafficking. Topics in this course include the specific vulnerabilities to trafficking faced by LGBTQ youth, how to make social services more inclusive for LGBTQ youth who have been/are vulnerable to being trafficked, and how to aid parents in supporting their LGBTQ children.
